Chris Porter is a composer and sound designer currently
living in Los Angeles, California. Apart from concert works, he
composes scores for films and enjoys collaborating in the areas of theater
and dance.
Chris spent four years in Cleveland, Ohio where he studied under Loris Chobanian and earned a Bachelor of Music in Composition at the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in Music Composition at California Institute of the Arts in May 2009. During his time in California, he has studied under Anne LeBaron and Wolfgang von Schweinitz. As a bassoonist, Chris has studied with
Jonathan Sherwin and Julie Feves and has played
with such ensembles as the American Creators Ensemble, the New Century Players, inAuthentica, Ensemble 303,
the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra, and the Baldwin-Wallace Bach
Festival Orchestra.
Chris taught composition and coached chamber ensembles through the Community Arts Partnership. He is also an orchestrator, arranger, music copyist, and a creative writer and filmmaker when not involved with composition projects. Chris was born in Maryland in 1983 and still considers himself an East Coaster. |
